The race is at the Elijah Bristow State Park and occurs on a 1.05-mile loop. The course is almost all dirt trail, with a short section on pavement as you approach and leave the aid station/timing/parking area. There is about 16 feet of gain in a loop, so this is pancake-flat. Here is the course map
There are equestrian trails at this state park, so you may encounter horses while you’re racing. We’ll explain the best way to approach them during the race announcements.
There is one aid station that you will pass by every single lap. This make it very easy to run this race without a crew. The aid station will have water, GU electrolyte drink, GU gels, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, Gummi bears, chips, Fig Newtons, bananas, and oranges are provided. Plus, keeping a Bristow tradition alive, you can order hot food from a rotating menu (i.e. burgers, quesadillas, pancakes, bacon, etc.) at the beginning of a lap and we’ll have it ready for you when you finish that lap.
Crew and spectators ARE allowed for all races!
Crew is definitely not necessary to race this, as we’ll provide all the support you need. But, friends and family cheering you on is pretty awesome, so you are welcome to use a crew if you like. Plus it makes the whole event more fun.
Crew can set up a spot in the parking area in front or behind a vehicle or you can create your own little aid station on the grass right at the start/finish area. We need to be sure there is room for all the racers, so be considerate when staking out your personal aid station. Your crew cannot access you while you are on the dirt trail portion of the course.
Pacing is allowed after 8:00 p.m., 12 hours into the race. Be careful to let other runners pass, staying to the right when on the single track trail.
Crew and spectators can buy lunch, dinner, and/or breakfast at the race for $7 each meal.
We’re serving a full breakfast Sunday morning for everyone so plan to stick around for this. It’s free for all racers and just $5 for friends and family. Breakfast starts at 7:30, so you’ll be right there to see the 24-hour finish and awards ceremony.
Elijah Bristow State Park (38263 Wheeler Rd, Dexter, OR 97431) is 17 miles (22 minutes) southeast of Eugene, Oregon and 122 miles (2 hours) from Portland, Oregon.
There is a limited amount of parking available, so please consider carpooling so that everyone can have a spot. If you are interested in carpooling, you can post here to find or give a ride. This is a Google spreadsheet that is viewable to anyone with the link, so only post what you want public. Carpooling can earn you $5 cash and a $5 drink gift card from Nossa Familia Coffee – read about this new program here.
There is not enough space for RVs or trailers. Please do not bring a vehicle larger than a truck as we’ll have to ask you to park elsewhere away from the race.
Camping the night before is allowed! Runners can pitch a tent in the field around the aid station and bathroom area starting Friday evening. You can also sleep in your vehicle (see size restrictions above). Cost is $5.
We’re going to have a Root Beer Mile Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. for crew (and racers who want to preview the course in a novel way). This is free and signups happen starting at 6:30. One lap, four 7.5 ounce root beers, as fast as you can. No penalty for puking.
All Elijah Bristow 24/12/6 runners earn a race finisher pint glass, regardless of how far or long you run. The top three men and top three women, and top three non-binary runners will receive prizes from our sponsors. Everyone who completes at least 100-miles will earn a buckle. And there are raffle prizes that all racers have a chance to win.
