This timed loop race is an excellent way to reach a new distance goal\, in a friendly format. There is a 6-hour\, 12-\, and 24-hour race. You pick your duration\, and run as many 1-mile loops as you can or want in the time. Bring your friends and family because it is more fun that way. There is also tent camping the night before the race\, with the free Root Beer Mile. This race captures our tagline perfectly; go farther\, go faster\, go beyond. This is the weekend that we hike the water into the remote aid stations for the following week’s Volcanic 50K race. Everyone shows up Saturday and/or Sunday morning to load as much water onto their back as they can carry and we head up the mountain. Each afternoon we return to a spread of food and drink and good laughter. \nWe camp in and around the southern Marble Mountain Sno-Park parking lot\, pitching tents wherever we can find a place or sleeping in vehicles. We’ll feed you well after each day’s hike\, but you’ll want to bring your own breakfast(s) and dinner(s). \nSaturday – two groups; going up the Butte Camp trail to aid station 1 and the Ape Canyon trail to aid station 4. \nSunday – two groups; another trip up to aid station 1 and a hike into the Toutle River to aid station 2. \nCome for one or both days. There are contests each day to see who can carry the most weight in their pack as compared to their body weight\, with each day’s winner earning a race entry. \nSounds like hard work because it is. These are rugged and remote races and won’t be like any you’ve run before. The 50K circumnavigates the entire mountain\, mostly on the Loowit trail. It’s hard and will feel more like a 50-miler. This last-person standing race is on Hamilton Island in the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge and involves running a 4.13-mile loop within one hour\, and repeating that over and over and over again\, until only one person can make the loop in time. Runners achieve and surpass big distance goals at Lastest\, and everyone discovers something deeper in themselves\, all while having a really fun time.
