These are free group runs in places where we’ve wanted to host a race\, but cannot for various reasons. Each of these events has a route we will run and then we’ll go get food and drinks together afterwards. There are three of these this off-season; 1/14\, 2/17\, and 3/9. \nGroup Run 3 is the Salmon River trail. This is one of our all-time favorite trails to run because it is outstandingly pretty alongside the Salmon river\, with the mega-giant old growth trees. But maybe we like this one a lot because the hanging out afterwards with friends at Skyway BBQ restaurant is always so fun. Since they don’t open until 3:00 p.m.\, this is a later in the day run (good day to sleep in!). \nRun Details: \n\n10 miles (you can go shorter by turning around sooner\, or longer too)\n940′ gain\n2 hours of running with regrouping and hugging big trees\n\nStrava route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3159597468501649370 \n  \nPARKING WILL BE VERY TIGHT. Please carpool. You can post here to offer or find a ride. The parking lot at the trailhead will NOT hold all the cars. If you can’t carpool\, considering connect with others to park in Zig Zag and carpool to the trailhead. If you get there and the lot is full\, you’ll have to drive down the road to park and then run back to the lot to start with us. Each of these events has a route we will run and then we’ll go get food and drinks together afterwards. There are three of these this off-season; 1/14\, 2/17\, and 3/9. \nGroup Run 2 is the Ecola trail\, a special one to us personally as it is where we got engaged. We promise we won’t get all mushy but we’ll show you the spot if you want. It’s an out-and-back from Ecola State Park (Indian Beach parking lot) to Tillamook Head and back. This route is a rugged and in February can be amazing or quite wet or windy. The trail is on top of the cliff above the ocean and ducks in and out of the forest along the way. It’s a great adventure with stunning views. Afterwards we’ll go to either Pelican Brewing or Public Coast to refuel and refresh. \nRun Details: \n\n10.6 miles (you can go shorter by turning around sooner)\n2700′ gain\nAlmost 3 hours of running with regroup stops and taking in the views\n\nStrava route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3159596799730450394 URL:https://gobeyondracing.com/event/group-run-in-places-we-dont-have-races-2/ LOCATION:Ecola State Park\, 84318 Ecola Park Rd\, Cannon Beach\, OR\, 97110\, United States CATEGORIES:Training Run ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://gobeyondracing.com/wp-content/uploads/Ecola-run-March-2019-scaled-e1699990567183.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20240127T090000 DTEND;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20240127T090000 DTSTAMP:20240405T023516 CREATED:20231114T200348Z LAST-MODIFIED:20240126T173112Z UID:18960-1706346000-1706346000@gobeyondracing.com SUMMARY:Group Run in Places We Don't Have Races #1 DESCRIPTION:Rescheduled to January 27th\, due to bad weather on the 14th. \nThis was so fun in 2022\, we’re bringing it back for 2024. Especially in winter\, although it is stunning year-round. For this\, the third and final group run\, in the Group Runs in Places We Don’t Have Races\, we’re heading toward Mt. Hood to run along the Salmon River. We’re starting at the OLD Salmon River trailhead (the first one you come to) so that we get to see and try to hug the really giant trees along this section. We’ll continue on the Salmon River trail to the junction with the Kinzel Lake trail and there turn back. You can cut your run shorter anytime. \nRoute map is here. \nDate: Sunday\, March 13\, 2022\nTime: 9:00 a.m. (about 1 hour drive from Portland)\nRun Meet Location: Old Salmon River trailhead (note we’re meeting at the start of the OLD trail\, not the other trailhead where the trail crosses the road\, further down)*\nDistance: 16 miles\nPost Run Location: Skyway Restaurant or Pub 26 (to be determined by popular vote at the trailhead) \n*Note about parking. The lot\, actually a pull out\, at the start of the Old Salmon River Trail is small. We all WILL NOT fit there. If you arrive and it is full\, drive on to the secondary parking area (noted on the route map). You can run back to where we are starting or just wait for us to join you there. Do not be a jerk by parking where you aren’t supposed to park. \nCarpooling Google sheet \nNW Forest Pass if required for parking. We’ll take the trail up from Multnomah Falls Lodge to the Larch Mountain trail to top out at Sherrard Point and then run back down the same way. This is a very (and we mean very) fun route to come down in the fluffy snow so let’s hope we get that. Afterwards we’ll hang out for a bit at either Thunder Island Brewing or Gorges Beer Co\, both in Cascade Locks. \nRoute map is here \nDate: Saturday\, February 26\, 2022\nTime: 9:00 a.m. (about 30-minute drive from Portland)\nRun Meet Location: Multnomah Falls\, in front of the lodge\nDistance: 14 miles\nPost Run Location: Thunder Island Brewing or Gorges Beer Co\, Cascade Locks URL:https://gobeyondracing.com/event/group-run-in-places-we-dont-have-races-2-larch-mountain-gorge/ LOCATION:Multnomah Falls CATEGORIES:Training Run ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://gobeyondracing.com/wp-content/uploads/snowy-larch-trail.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20220208T180000 DTEND;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20220208T200000 DTSTAMP:20240405T023516 CREATED:20220127T191509Z LAST-MODIFIED:20220127T191509Z UID:16872-1644343200-1644350400@gobeyondracing.com SUMMARY:Petzl Demo DESCRIPTION:Need a new headlamp? Even though it is getting light earlier and staying light later\, there are still plenty of opportunities to run in the dark\, especially if you’re training for a 100-miler or 24-hour event. Petzl\, one of our race sponsors\, is giving you a chance to try a light during an evening group run on Tuesday\, February 8th. \nWe’ll join the Trail Factor running club on their weekly group run in Forest Park. There are 4\, 6\, and 8-mile routes (with multiple regroup points) and Petzl will be there 30 minutes early so you can try on a light and talk to them about their products. You’ll run with a headlamp and then return it at the finish. \nRun starts at 6:15 from the gate at Leif Erikson & Thurman Rd. \nThis is free and open to everyone. You can learn more about these runs in this post. \nThe Fort to Sea trail is a pretty cool route that starts at Fort Clatsop in Astoria and ends at Sunset Beach\, on the beach. We’re going to do this as an out-and-back\, starting and finishing at the Fort. That’s an 11.5-mile route. There’s a shorter 6-mile loop option too. You’ll start running in the forest\, pass through farm land (hello cows) and pause on the sand of the Oregon coast before flipping the route back. Actually\, it isn’t a complete flip as we’ll go back through the forest a different way. Afterwards we’ll go to Fort George Brewery & Public House to complete our Fort to Sea to Fort. \nRoute map is here – Know the route. Print it or load it on your watch or phone. \nDate: Saturday\, January 15\, 2022\nTime: 10:00 a.m. (about 2-hour drive from Portland)\nRun Meet Location: Fort Clatsop\, part of the Lewis & Clark National Historic Park\nDistances: 11.5 mile or 6-mile loop\nPost Run Location: Fort George Brewery & Public House\, Astoria \n  \nCOVID UPDATE: Please\, stay home and take care of yourself if you are at all sick.
