Update 2/9/16: The NUT 50K is now a qualifier.
Some consider the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® (UTMB) to be the crown jewel in ultra running. This race, which starts and finishes in Chamonix France, and circumnavigates Mount Blanc, is difficult to say the least. It is also difficult to get into and runners must qualify by earning points at official qualifier races. We are happy to share that most of our 2016 ultra races are qualifiers for 2017 UTMB events. In fact, there are currently just seven races in Oregon that are qualifiers, and six of them are ours! Volcanic 50 is also a qualifier, in Washington State.
Here are the points for our 2016 races:
Go Beyond Racing submitted the technical information for each race to the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) for evaluation. This organization awards points based on the difficulty of the race. That information is then used by UTMB to decide whether to include a race on its list of qualifiers.
We feel the time and expense to get our races approved is worth it because it is something our racers ask for… and besides, who wouldn’t like to run this amazing race in such a beautiful place.
