Yes, there is plenty of racing left in 2017, but you people are eager, and apparently planners! We’ve had lots of requests for our 2018 race dates. So here you go, here is what we’ve got planned for next year.
We can’t say too much yet, but we are working on two brand-new events for 2018. Both are in Oregon and involve trails that have never had races on them. One has both a 50-mile and a 50K distance and is slated for June, and the other is a unique style of race that is much shorter. We are also planning to add a new distance to an existing race. I know, I know, you want details. Trust us, we’ll tell you as soon as we can.
Here is the 2018 race schedule for our existing events:
We are always trying new ideas. Sometimes they work and runners love them, and sometimes they don’t turn out like we’d hoped.
Last year we put the Pick Your Poison Relay on hold while things shook out with the new management at the lake. We’ve decided to retire this race. It may come out of retirement in the future, perhaps in another venue, but it will not happen in 2018.
The Go Race Series is also going to retire. This was a fun series that we really enjoyed and we got to meet some really neat people who we hope will continue to race with us.
The NUT 100K & 50K. Boy oh boy did this race take a beating this year! We definitely won’t be putting this race on in the spring or early summer as the trails get too hammered in the winter and the Forest Service needs more time to make repairs. And now, with the area burning like crazy from all the forest fires, we just don’t know how long it’ll be before the trail can be reopened or what condition it will be in. So, we are going to have to wait and see what happens when the fires are put out and when spring comes around. The chances of this race happening in 2018 are very slim.
Of course all new and existing races are pending permit approval, and generally, the US Forest Service permitting process doesn’t start until the Fall.
In 2017, almost all of our races sold out and filled up faster than ever before. We are anticipating the same enthusiasm next year, so put these dates on your calendars now. The only race that will have a lottery is the Mt. Hood 50 Mile.
So there you go; 2018 races. We can’t wait either.
